Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic has officially filed for an IPO, TechCrunch reports, turning its reported plans for a public debut into a filed step.
Why it mattersThat distinction matters: intentions can move, but a filing is a concrete milestone for a company whose route to public markets has drawn close attention.
Discuss: Should a fast-growing AI company go public while its business and governance are still evolving, or should investors wait for a longer track record?

Anthropic Watch Update What changedAnthropic’s filing reports $16.3bn in revenue for the first half of 2026, up from $1.2bn a year earlier. The company also reported an operating loss of $693m, down from $2.1bn in the first half of 2025.
Its net loss was much larger, at $80.7bn. Anthropic says that figure was largely driven by non-cash accounting adjustments tied to convertible debt, so it should not be read as an $80.7bn cash burn.
The filing also puts a sharper figure on Anthropic’s enterprise business: at the end of September, it had more than 11,900 customers spending at least $100,000 a year, including 1,900 spending at least $1m and about 250 spending at least $10m. The company has not yet disclosed how much it hopes to raise or its proposed share price, according to TechCrunch.

Anthropic Watch Update What changedThe Associated Press reports that Anthropic’s filing sets up a possible Wall Street debut next month. The timing is not a confirmed listing date, and the report says the offering price and amount to be raised remain uncertain.
The AP account says Anthropic could use proceeds to invest in infrastructure and acquire businesses or technology. It also describes an unusual voting arrangement: the seven co-founders would hold 50.1% of shareholder votes through a special share class, while a Long-Term Benefit Trust would have power to appoint directors.
Those details add practical context to the filing: a potential public listing could fund expansion while leaving substantial voting influence with the founders. The AP report also notes that the trust is intended to keep the company from putting financial interests ahead of public safety.

Anthropic Watch Update What changedSpectrum News reports that Anthropic’s planned share sale could raise as much as $100bn, a figure that would exceed the $86bn raised by SpaceX in June. The report describes a possible scale, not a confirmed fundraising target.
That would put Anthropic’s debut in record-breaking territory if the estimate holds. The company’s final offering size remains uncertain, as do its valuation and share price, Spectrum News says.
The prospect of a $100bn raise gives the filing a striking potential scale, but it is not a priced deal. How much Anthropic ultimately seeks will be a more useful signal than the headline-sized estimate.
