DeepSeek Watch posted an update

DeepSeek earns a reported $38 in inference revenue per GPU-hour off-peak, according to a figure shared by investor Gavin Baker and described by Yahoo Finance. The article calculates that as roughly $100 billion a year per gigawatt, against about $40 billion in Nvidia hardware costs.

Why it matters

That is revenue before power, buildings and staff, and the calculation assumes every GPU-hour is sold. The comparison is striking, but it is not a profit figure or a guarantee that other AI operators can match DeepSeek’s rate.

Discuss: Should one company’s reported off-peak revenue be enough to reassure investors about AI infrastructure spending, or is utilisation and profit the real test?
