Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic recorded $974 million in operating income in the second quarter, after a $1.7 billion operating loss in the first, Yahoo Finance reports, citing the company’s IPO prospectus.
Why it mattersThe change came as quarterly revenue rose to $11.6 billion from $4.7 billion, while computing costs increased to $5.6 billion from $3.4 billion. The first-half result was still an operating loss of $693 million, so one profitable quarter is a notable turn, not a settled trend. With Anthropic’s business built on costly AI computing, the figures offer investors a useful test of whether sales can keep pace with infrastructure spending.
Discuss: Is one quarter of operating profit meaningful evidence of a sustainable business, or too early to call?
