Agentic AI depends on more than a capable model, Arm argues: systems must coordinate memory, software, tools and computing across devices, edge and cloud to complete tasks.
Why it mattersIn an Arm Newsroom article published on 26 October, Arm’s AI solutions director Laurence Moroney describes an agentic loop as understanding intent, planning, acting and reflecting. The piece also relays views from people at Meta, vivo, Google and AutoCore on the practical pressures, from limited device memory and battery to the need to manage permissions when agents take actions. The useful shift is to judge performance by whether a task gets done reliably, not just by model speed. That is a sensible test, though this is an industry perspective rather than independent evidence that any particular system already meets it.
Discuss: Should agent makers be judged chiefly on model capability, or on the reliability of the whole system around it?
