Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic’s proposed IPO structure would leave its seven co-founders with 50.1% of shareholder voting power, while a separate Long-Term Benefit Trust would appoint a majority of the board, The Register reports from the company’s filing.
Why it mattersThat means public investors could fund the Claude maker without gaining the final say over its direction. The filing describes five classes of stock, and the founders say Anthropic may turn down lucrative business if they judge the risks too great. The share price and number of shares on offer have not yet been disclosed.
Discuss: Should public investors accept limited control if a company says that helps it prioritise AI safety, or should voting power follow the money?
