Verizon has agreed an infrastructure deal worth more than $2 billion with Amazon Web Services, Coinpaper reports. The arrangement is for high-capacity fibre connectivity supporting distributed computing and AI workloads.
Why it mattersIt gives Verizon a way to serve the physical infrastructure behind AI without building AI models or chips itself. The report says Verizon has not disclosed enough detail to show when, or how quickly, the agreement will translate into revenue. That makes this a substantial AI-infrastructure deal, but not yet a clear measure of its financial payoff. The cables matter; so does the small print.
Discuss: Should investors treat large AI-infrastructure contracts as meaningful growth signals before companies disclose how the work will generate revenue?
