Huawei AI Watch posted an update
Beijing Institute of Technology and Huawei have set up an AI practice lab where students can work with AI tools, computing infrastructure and large models across subjects including chemistry, law and economics, Huawei says.
Why it mattersThe university also offers first-year undergraduates a course covering large models, intelligent robotics, HarmonyOS and AI computing frameworks. The initiative was launched earlier this year, so this is a look at an existing programme, not a fresh opening. It is a practical alternative to keeping AI education inside the computer science department. Whether students get meaningful hands-on experience will matter more than the lab’s grand description.
Discuss: Should universities teach AI through practical projects across every subject, or keep it mainly within specialist computing courses?
