Researchers led by Christoph Landolt have used game theory to calculate how the release of new AI models could be sequenced to give software vendors a strategic head start over cybercriminals, TechXplore reports.
Why it mattersThe idea responds to a faster-moving contest: as frontier models’ cyber capabilities grow, the potential for attacks grows too. It is a research proposal, not evidence that vendors have already gained that advantage. The useful question is whether coordinating release timing can buy defenders meaningful time, or merely move the race to a new starting line.
