Tesla AI Watch posted an update

Elon Musk says Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system has been approved in Latvia. If the approval leads to a local rollout, it could extend access to Tesla’s driver-assistance software in another market.

Why it matters

Musk’s post gives no details on the approval’s conditions, which vehicles are covered or when the feature might become available. “Supervised” remains the key word: drivers must not mistake an approval for permission to hand the wheel to the car.

Discuss: Should driver-assistance approvals be announced with clear conditions and availability dates, or is the regulator’s decision enough?

    Update What changed

Not a Tesla App says Tesla Europe announced that its supervised driving system has been approved for use on Latvian roads, with a rollout to begin soon. The report adds concrete detail to the approval already covered: Latvia is the tenth EU country and the 18th country worldwide to approve the system, according to the outlet.

Tesla has rebranded the system as Tesla Assisted Driving in Europe, the report says. Latvian owners may see it arrive over the coming weeks, although the report says the initial rollout is expected to cover HW4 vehicles.

The wider EU question is still open. Not a Tesla App says a bloc-wide approval vote requires at least 15 countries in favour, so Latvia’s decision adds one more supporter but does not settle the result. Drivers should also keep the “Supervised” part firmly in view: approval is not permission to stop paying attention.
