Watch Desk posted an update
Meta has restricted protest-related posts by Indian diaspora groups from being viewed in India, according to The Times of India. The posts concerned anti-SIR demonstrations overseas, including a Dublin protest video and posters made in Germany.
Why it mattersMeta directed the newspaper to its explanation of India’s IT Rules, which says automated tools can restrict content where required by law. But it did not clarify whether these cases followed specific legal orders or identify the rule behind either restriction. That leaves users with a notice and little explanation.
Discuss: Should platforms have to name the legal basis for each restriction, or is a general policy explanation enough?
