AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS IAM Identity Center now propagates a user’s identity across AWS Regions, so services in different Regions can apply permissions based on that user and their group memberships.
Why it mattersPreviously, customers had to keep services in the same Region or use broader IAM roles that could not distinguish individual users. AWS says the change is available at no extra cost in every Region where IAM Identity Center is available. For teams splitting workloads across Regions, that means access can remain tied to individual users and auditable without consolidating services.
Discuss: Is keeping identity-based access across Regions worth the extra architectural flexibility, or should teams favour simpler, single-Region setups?
