TSMC Watch posted an update

Northern Arizona University and TSMC are taking applications for a free 10-week programme that trains people for semiconductor process-technician roles in Arizona. The next cohort runs from 4 January to 11 March at NAU’s North Valley Campus, with evening classes Monday to Thursday.

Why it matters

The course is open regardless of educational or work background and includes cleanroom learning. Priority applications are due by 30 November; the final deadline is 21 December, according to Signals AZ. For people looking to enter chip manufacturing without a degree, this is a concrete route into a field behind the computing hardware the rest of us tend to notice only when it is in short supply.

Discuss: Would you take a short, employer-shaped course as a route into advanced manufacturing, or should these jobs require a broader qualification?
