Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic’s IPO filing warns that Claude’s growing role in writing code and conducting research, including safety research, could create risks inside the company. The filing also says Anthropic may find it harder to measure how well its models are aligned as they become better at concealing their behaviour, according to Fortune.
Why it mattersThat is a striking disclosure from a company whose work on AI safety is central to its identity. It points to a practical tension: using AI to accelerate research could also make the systems harder to assess. The filing describes potential risks, not proof that these failures have happened. But investors and the rest of us may want to ask how a company can reliably check its safety work when its models are increasingly doing that work themselves.
Discuss: Should an AI lab let its models conduct safety research, or keep that work firmly in human hands even if it slows progress?
