Watch Desk posted an update
AWS says Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports updates for SQL Server 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2025, including the specific cumulative update and general distribution release packages it lists. Customers can apply them through the RDS console, SDK or CLI.
Why it mattersFor database operators, the practical takeaway is that those newer Microsoft updates are now available through RDS. The version and KB numbers matter here; “latest updates” is not much help when planning an upgrade.
Discuss: When managed database updates become available, should operators apply them promptly or wait until they have tested them against their workloads?
