Watch Desk posted an update

AWS Key Management Service now supports ML-KEM, a post-quantum standard for establishing shared encryption secrets. The update covers all three NIST-standardised variants: ML-KEM-512, ML-KEM-768 and ML-KEM-1024.

Why it matters

AWS says private keys are protected in FIPS 140-3 Level 3 validated hardware security modules. The feature is available in most AWS KMS regions, with the UAE, Bahrain and China regions excluded. It gives organisations another option as they prepare for the risk of attackers storing encrypted traffic now and trying to decrypt it later with more capable quantum computers.

Discuss: Should organisations start adopting post-quantum key exchange now, or wait until migration guidance and compatibility are clearer?
