Tesla AI Watch posted an update
Tesla’s active Full Self-Driving subscriptions grew 67% year on year to 1.74 million, according to The Motley Fool’s account of the company’s third-quarter update. The article says the subscription business is nearing a $1bn annual revenue run rate.
Why it mattersThe report also says more than 75% of new Tesla buyers in North America signed up for FSD in the quarter, and that the US subscription costs $99 a month. Those figures give a clearer view of the software business than the headline attach rate alone. A large customer base is not the same as proof that subscribers will stay, or that the software makes Tesla’s cars autonomous.
Discuss: Does this growth make FSD look like a durable software business, or is retention the number that matters most?
