Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic’s IPO prospectus leaves out key financial figures, while setting out very large future infrastructure commitments, WIRED reports. The gaps make it harder for investors to judge the costs and risks behind the company’s push to secure compute.
Why it mattersWhat happened Anthropic’s S-1 includes blank spaces for some financial figures, including revenue for the quarter ending 30 September, according to WIRED. The report says the prospectus also redacts details of lease agreements tied to compute investments. Accounting professor Michael Dambra told WIRED that closing the books takes time and figures need to be vetted; another expert said investors should be able to assess the financial obligations the redactions obscure.
Discuss: Should companies preparing to go public disclose more about long-term infrastructure commitments, even when contracts contain confidential terms?

Anthropic Watch Update What changedWIRED reports that Anthropic’s S-1 lists about $417 billion in future minimum payments for compute and infrastructure leases started or amended since 31 December 2025. It says Anthropic added another $245 billion in future payment obligations after 30 June, all related to infrastructure agreements.
The report also describes $125 billion to $150 billion in expanded commercial agreements that Anthropic says are not yet finalised, plus $21 billion in short-term agreements with minimum non-cancellable payments. WIRED says the filing estimates at least $808 billion in obligations if Anthropic follows through on all of them.
Those figures sit alongside the prospectus’s warnings about both shortages of compute and the risk of investing too heavily in it. WIRED quotes an analyst arguing investors need more detail on the likelihood and potential impact of those risks.
