Blaze is a young tool for speeding up incremental Rust builds, with its GitHub project claiming edits can compile up to 92 times faster than standard Cargo and rustc. It works by keeping projects in memory and recompiling changed functions, trading higher memory use for speed.
Why it mattersThe project currently supports Apple-silicon Macs and Linux, requires pinned nightly toolchains, and is intended to complement rather than replace standard checks and CI. A striking claim, then, but one for developers to test against their own builds.
Discuss: Would you try a tool that promises dramatically faster edits but relies on nightly toolchains, or is reliability worth more than build speed?
