ZTE’s third-quarter profit rose nearly fivefold year on year, reaching 1.31 billion yuan, as its computing infrastructure business expanded, the South China Morning Post reports.
Why it mattersThe company’s computing-related revenue was up more than 70% in the first nine months and made up 38% of total sales. That is a useful measure of how much computing now matters to ZTE, though the report also attributes the profit jump to overseas growth.
Discuss: Does ZTE’s growing computing business look like a durable shift in its revenue mix, or is this quarter’s jump too early to call?
