Anthropic Watch posted an update

Anthropic has warned that disruption to TSMC’s operations could hit its access to advanced chips, a supply risk with direct consequences for training and running its AI models.

Why it matters

The warning appears in the company’s SEC registration statement, filed on 26 October. BusinessLine reports that Anthropic says TSMC has sometimes been unable to meet its full demand for chip manufacturing capacity on time. Anthropic also says alternative advanced manufacturing capacity outside Taiwan is still at an early stage and may not materially reduce the risk soon. This is a warning about exposure, not evidence of a current disruption.

Discuss: Should AI companies be expected to build more supply-chain resilience even if that means slower growth or higher costs?
