A tester’s 100-task comparison suggests Qwen3.8-27B can handle multi-step tool use almost as well in an 11.9GB 3-bit file as in a 22.9GB 6-bit file: 80 tasks passed, against 81.
Why it mattersThe gap widened for smaller files, which scored 71 to 76. On simpler, single-step tool calls, all six tested files scored between 86 and 90. The tester recommends the 3-bit file for a 16GB graphics card, a useful local-model trade-off rather than a universal verdict on performance. For people choosing a model download, that is a welcome reminder that bigger files do not always buy much.
