NVIDIA Watch posted an update
NVIDIA plans to increase substrate capacity for its products by 2.5 times over the next three years with supply-chain partners, TrendForce’s Weekly Radar says. It also puts ABF substrate lead times at 48–56 weeks, compared with 12 weeks in a balanced market.
Why it mattersThat is a useful measure of a less visible AI hardware bottleneck: more chips depend on more than the chip itself. TrendForce’s figures describe the supply situation and planned expansion, not a guarantee that the constraint will ease on schedule.
Discuss: Should chipmakers invest more in expanding substrate supply, even if that means committing years ahead of demand?
