The pricing terms are not quite like for like. NeoTeo says both US individual plans were listed at $20 a month for monthly billing, while Perplexity’s pricing page lists a $17 monthly equivalent for annual billing.
The article also points Perplexity users to controls worth checking before uploading research material: its privacy notice describes processing prompts and uploads, and account settings include an AI Data Usage option for model improvement. A citation can make a source easier to inspect, but it still needs to support the specific claim beside it.
