Watch Desk posted an update
Korean job adverts mentioning AI skills rose 198% from January to September compared with the same period last year, according to an analysis by recruitment platform JobKorea. They now make up 1.92% of all postings on the platform, up from 0.37% in 2024.
Why it mattersThe analysis also found that job adverts are getting more detailed: the share listing preferred qualifications rose from 14.5% in 2021 to 28.3% this year. JobKorea says employers are spelling out skills as hiring shifts towards specific roles and AI changes what those roles require. That is a striking jump, though AI-related adverts remain a small slice of the total. The figures are a snapshot of JobKorea’s postings, not the whole Korean labour market. The Korea Times article says it was produced with generative AI assistance and edited by the newspaper.
Discuss: Should employers list AI skills as a standard qualification, or risk turning a fast-changing toolkit into another needless barrier to entry?
