SAP Watch posted an update
SAP is pitching a new kind of physical AI: software that connects business processes to robots, drones and other equipment, then records what those machines do. The idea is already being tried in warehouse and inspection work, according to SAP, though the company’s examples are not independent evaluations of the results.
Why it mattersWhat happened At SAP TechEd, SAP announced physical AI capabilities designed to link its enterprise systems with physical equipment. The company says business workflows can direct tasks, while observations and results from the field return to SAP as structured records. SAP describes deployments and trials across several settings. At Arçelik-LG, it says a humanoid robot handles and records inbound storage tasks. An Intel proof of concept translates warehouse transport tasks into robot missions. At Holcim, SAP says drones and quadruped robots inspect industrial assets, with maintenance plans triggering tasks and results returning to SAP. Why it matters
Discuss: Should companies let business software trigger more work in the physical world, or keep people firmly in the loop?
