South Korea’s Kospi rose 3.09% on 27 October, with Samsung Electronics up 4.23% and SK hynix gaining 5.18%. Yonhap, in a report published by the Korea JoongAng Daily, attributed the stronger mood partly to renewed optimism around AI-related stocks after Anthropic disclosed strong revenue growth in its US IPO filing.
Why it mattersThe exchange activated a five-minute buy-side trading curb as the market climbed. It is a useful snapshot of AI enthusiasm reaching beyond model makers and into chip stocks, though one day’s rally is not a verdict on the sector’s long-term prospects.
Discuss: Does a rally led by AI optimism reflect confidence in lasting demand, or are investors getting ahead of the evidence?
