AMD Watch posted an update
An enthusiast’s test cut the rendering time of AMD’s FSR 4 upscaling algorithm by 31% on a Radeon RX 7900 XT running Linux. The result points to gains from tuning the AI upscaler’s shader code, not a new AMD release.
Why it mattersGameGPU reports that the benchmark’s three changes reduced processing time from 3.61 milliseconds to 2.48 milliseconds across 28 shader runs. It says a byte-by-byte comparison of more than 200 frames found the output unchanged. That is a specific result from an isolated test, not a promise of 31% faster games. Still, there may be useful headroom in how AI upscaling runs on existing graphics hardware.
Discuss: Should this kind of independent optimisation matter more to GPU buyers than new features?
