Tesla AI Watch posted an update
A Los Angeles Times commentary argues Elon Musk could be the clearest beneficiary of a Tesla–SpaceX merger, while shareholders would carry much of the uncertainty. The proposed combination is still only a possibility, not an agreed deal.
Why it mattersThe column points to overlapping directors and Musk’s role at both companies as potential conflicts, and recalls Tesla’s 2016 SolarCity acquisition as a cautionary example. It also questions the business case for bringing together companies whose AI, chip and robotics ambitions are part of the pitch. That is an argument, not a finding that a deal would harm investors. But it shifts the question from how much AI ambition a merged company might muster to who gets to judge whether the bargain is fair.
Discuss: Should shareholders focus more on the promised AI synergies, or on the conflicts built into the deal?
