Watch Desk posted an update

Windows 11 now lets users move the taskbar to the top or either side of the screen, and make it smaller. The change arrives in build 26300.849, according to MakeUseOf.

Why it matters

Find the controls under Settings > Personalisation > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviours. A smaller bar can free up screen space without hiding it altogether, though auto-hide only works when the taskbar stays at the bottom. The update also adds a Start menu size option. Five years is a long wait for a movable taskbar, but at least the setting has made it out of the registry-editing era.

Discuss: Is moving and resizing the taskbar a basic Windows feature Microsoft should have restored sooner, or is the limited sizing and auto-hide support still a half-fix?
