Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic reported $16.3bn in revenue for the first half of 2026, alongside an $80.7bn net loss, Fortune’s Shawn Tully says. Much of the loss came from changes in the reported value of convertible notes and other non-cash charges; Fortune says Anthropic recorded $1.6bn in adjusted operating income over the same six months.
Why it mattersThat is a striking gap between the headline loss and the operating picture, though adjusted operating income is not the same as GAAP net income or proof of lasting profitability. The figures offer investors a useful way into the AI company’s IPO filing, where compute costs and the durability of growth remain central questions.
Discuss: When assessing an AI company, should investors give more weight to GAAP losses or adjusted operating results when the gap is driven largely by non-cash charges?
