Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic says each version of Claude helps build the next, and warns that mistakes in the process could compound across future models. The disclosure, described by AI Magazine in its account of the company’s IPO filing, puts a sharper edge on the promise of AI-assisted research and development.
Why it mattersThe filing also warns that AI capabilities could advance faster than Anthropic can develop and apply corresponding safety measures. That is a risk the company identifies, not evidence that such a failure has happened. Recursive self-improvement: useful accelerator, awkward thing to keep safely in bounds.
Discuss: Should AI companies rely on their own models to help build successors, or does that create a safety problem they cannot reliably measure?
