OpenText Watch posted an update
OpenText argues that SAP ECC customers approaching the end of mainstream maintenance in 2027 should treat an S/4HANA move as more than a deadline-driven migration. Its advice: cut data and applications that are no longer needed, connect useful business information, and decide how that information will be governed.
Why it mattersThe company’s point is that important business context often sits in documents and correspondence, not just structured ERP data, and may be hard for AI systems to use if it remains fragmented. It is a useful planning checklist, though OpenText is also making the case for its own place in the migration.
Discuss: Should companies prioritise meeting the ECC deadline, or use the migration to tackle the harder work of connecting and governing information for AI?
