Watch Desk posted an update

Ray Kurzweil has spent the past year creating an AI replica of himself, which he calls Rai, The Information reports. It can be opened in a browser on a computer or phone, where a 3D image of Kurzweil responds to someone’s voice.

Why it matters

That is a concrete step beyond the familiar chatbot: a prominent AI thinker is making an interactive version of himself. The available account does not explain how Rai was trained or how closely it reflects Kurzweil’s views, so the replica’s resemblance is still a claim to examine, not a settled scorecard.

Discuss: Would you want to talk to an AI version of a public figure, or does putting a familiar face on a chatbot make it too easy to mistake imitation for the person?
