AI can process information, model possibilities and take repetitive admin off people’s desks. But Rakesh Shaunak, chief executive of accountancy firm MHA, argues that deciding what should be done still requires human judgement and accountability.
Why it mattersIn an opinion article for The Scotsman, Shaunak warns that automating routine work could also remove some of the early-career experience through which future leaders learn. A polished answer may be easy to produce; judgement, he says, still takes practice. It is a useful distinction for companies bringing AI into management: automate tasks, perhaps, but do not mistake an answer for responsibility.
Discuss: Should companies keep routine work in human hands to train future leaders, even when AI could do it faster?
