A Forbes Technology Council essay argues that companies should test AI models against their actual tasks rather than choose by reputation or a polished demo. The same model can perform very differently across jobs, and the best answer may be a conventional automation or API rather than an LLM.
Why it mattersThe practical checklist is unglamorous in the best way: weigh cost, speed, security, context and integration, then test in real workflows with incomplete information, awkward exceptions and repeated use. Marie Aiello, president of ContinuumGlobal, also advises retesting when models change instead of rebuilding around every new release. That is opinion from an executive who works with AI, not proof that one evaluation method suits every organisation. But it is a useful antidote to choosing a system because its demo had excellent manners.
Discuss: Should businesses prioritise keeping model choices flexible, or settle on one provider to simplify their systems?
