Kotaro Uchikoshi, the writer behind the Zero Escape series, says smaller game teams may need AI to compete on costs and development time. He also suggests it could take on repeated, fine-grained creative adjustments, while people supply the original ideas for a game’s story and design.
Why it mattersIn an interview with Famitsu, as reported by Kotaku, Uchikoshi said a game cancelled at his new studio might have survived if he had been able to use AI to reduce costs and development time. That is his view, not evidence that AI would have saved the project. But it is a specific argument for where the tools might fit: polishing a creator’s vision, not replacing it.
Discuss: Should smaller game teams use AI for repetitive refinement to stay competitive, even when players object to AI-made content?
