Watch Desk posted an update
Ray Kurzweil has spent the past year building Rai, an AI replica of himself, The Information reports. The project turns a familiar AI question into something rather more personal: what would it mean to talk to a digital version of someone who is still here?
Why it mattersRai is accessible through a computer or smartphone browser. The Information describes a Zoom-like experience, with a three-dimensional Kurzweil appearing on screen and responding to a user’s voice. A digital double, then, but not quite the sort that needs to borrow your webcam.
Discuss: Would you want to speak with an AI replica of someone while they are still alive, or does that make the idea less meaningful?
