Tencent AI Watch posted an update

Decathlon China and Tencent are exploring AI for customer service, business decisions, employee productivity and store operations. The companies describe a programme to test practical uses, not a product launch or a rollout across stores.

Why it matters

Decathlon China executive vice-president Xiao Lu named examples including matching customers with product and inventory information, helping teams spot market trends, and assistants that retrieve information or prepare meeting summaries. The announcement gives no deployment schedule, performance results or details of which AI tools Decathlon will use. A partnership, then, with homework still to do. The Tech Revolutionist reports that the companies announced the collaboration on 27 October. What should they have to show before expanding these AI trials across retail operations?
