Patrick Galleher, a managing partner at investment bank Boxwood Partners, argues that AI in home services should support workers rather than replace them.

Why it matters

He points to tasks such as scheduling, estimating, routing and customer follow-up as places where AI tools can help businesses work more efficiently. His examples are an executive’s perspective, not an industry-wide assessment or evidence that these uses are delivering results. For a burst pipe, the person who turns up still matters.

Discuss: Should home-service businesses use AI mainly to make workers more effective, or should they push further towards automating customer interactions?
