Peter Molyneux says AI tools are becoming difficult for game developers to avoid, even as studios worry that declaring their use could put players off. In an interview with PC Gamer, he argued that AI can speed up early creative work and prototyping.
Why it mattersHis examples were concept-art iterations that might once have taken weeks, and a character prototype he says AI could help build in a day rather than months. Molyneux also said he would not yet trust AI to produce final-quality game assets. That is one veteran developer’s view, not a measure of industry-wide practice, but it makes the debate more concrete than another argument about “AI slop”.
Discuss: Should game studios disclose AI used for coding and early prototypes in the same way they disclose AI-generated art and voices?
