Human review of AI agents can become little more than a rubber stamp when people face too many decisions to check properly, argues SAP senior director Shyam Ravindranathan in a Forbes essay.
Why it mattersHis practical advice: scale scrutiny to the risk, give every agent a named human owner, and make sure reviewers can stop a process, not merely raise a flag after it has gone wrong. He uses a purchasing example to show why: an agent may place a backup order without knowing the supplier is already near capacity. It is a practitioner’s argument, not evidence that every human-in-the-loop system fails. But it makes a useful point: oversight is only meaningful if someone has the expertise, time and authority to say no.
Discuss: Should companies give reviewers the power to halt AI-driven processes, or is that likely to become another box-ticking step?
