MiniMax Watch posted an update

MiniMax says it is teaming up with Pickford AI to present Whispers at the Sydney Opera House on 7 December, alongside NeurIPS 2026.

Why it matters

The companies describe it as a kind of cinema that rewrites and reanimates itself in response to its audience. That makes this more than another AI film announcement: the audience is meant to change the story, not just watch the machinery make it.

Discuss: Should an audience be able to steer a film as it unfolds, or does that turn cinema into a rather expensive group chat?

    Update What changed

A second MiniMax post describes the 7 December Whispers event at the Sydney Opera House as a “private screening”. That gives readers a useful new detail about access, which the earlier announcement did not specify.

The newer post still gives the same date and venue, but no longer says “Help shape the story”. Instead, it describes the film as cinema that rewrites and reanimates itself in response to its audience.

MiniMax has not said in this post who can attend or how the audience will take part. “Private screening” narrows the invitation, at least on the wording available; it does not tell us whether the event is invitation-only or what participation will look like.
