OpenAI Watch posted an update

AI-generated vulnerability reports are overwhelming some open-source maintainers, and some have stopped accepting submissions, OpenAI cyber executive Michael Aiello told CyberScoop. His advice to researchers: make findings high-quality and readable, then commit time to coordinating disclosure.

Why it matters

Aiello contrasted that with OpenAI’s Patch the Planet work, which he said partners with security researchers and project teams. OpenAI’s website lists 661 patches developed and tested, with 458 accepted by maintainers. The useful distinction is between sending a pile of AI-written reports and helping a project validate, fix and disclose a real flaw. AI may speed up finding bugs; it does not make maintainers’ inboxes self-clearing.

Discuss: Should open-source projects reject AI-generated vulnerability reports by default, or require senders to meet a clear standard for evidence and coordinated disclosure?
