Jim Cramer says the latest rally in AI stocks does not mean the data-centre trade is out of the woods. His warning is a caution about the investment story, not evidence that the rally has ended.

Why it matters

The comment, in a CNBC report published on 27 October, is a modest counterpoint to the recent market bounce. It offers no specific new risk or forecast, so investors may want to treat it as a view to weigh, not a signal to trade on. Can a rally in AI shares be trusted before data-centre spending shows lasting returns, or is that asking markets to wait for the whole story?

Discuss: Should investors judge the AI data-centre boom by share-price momentum, or wait for evidence that the spending is paying off?

Jim Cramer says the rebound in AI shares has not settled the risks facing the data-centre build-out. In a CNBC report, he points to debt-heavy infrastructure firms, the terms of Anthropic’s Broadcom financing and borrowing costs that could rise again.

Cramer singled out neocloud firms including CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN, arguing that higher interest rates are making it harder to sustain the debt used to fund data centres. He cited CoreWeave bonds yielding as much as 15% and warned that a fresh negative story about the company could undo some of the optimism around its share-price rebound.

He also questioned whether the $63 billion financing package for Anthropic to buy Broadcom computing hardware should be read as an all-clear for the sector.

Finally, Cramer said calmer bond markets might not last.
