Miami International Airport is working with logistics software specialist Kalé on an AI-powered cargo community system, announced at an industry conference on 27 October. Kalé says the platform is designed to speed communication and reduce congestion at one of the world’s busiest cargo hubs, but the projected savings are not a measured result.
Why it mattersWhat happened Air Cargo Week reports that Kalé announced the planned system at the International Air Cargo Association’s Air Cargo Forum 2026. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said the project aims to simplify and speed the movement of goods through the airport. The system is planned for Miami International Airport, which handled a record 3.4 million US tons of freight in 2025, according to the report. Kalé estimates the system could save up to $250 million a year across the air cargo supply chain. That figure is based on assumptions including a 15 per cent reduction in paper handling and an average two-hour reduction in truck turnaround time. The report describes a planned launch, not a system already in operation.
Discuss: Should airports back big projected savings before a system is running, or wait for measured results?
