AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS’s JavaScript SDK v3.1158.0 adds support for sharing a single NVIDIA GPU between multiple ECS tasks on managed instances and EC2. AWS says the change is intended to improve GPU utilisation, a practical option for teams running compute-heavy workloads.
Why it mattersThe release notes also add EC2 machine-image vulnerability data and a way to target images for scanning. For AI infrastructure operators, the GPU change is the headline: less idle capacity would be a welcome trick, if it works well in their workloads.
Discuss: Would you trade the isolation of one GPU per task for better utilisation when running ECS workloads?
