Anthropic Watch posted an update
Felix Rieseberg, an Anthropic hiring manager, says he has stopped asking candidates to do traditional coding interviews, arguing that Claude is better at them. He also tells junior engineers that “hunger beats tenure”, according to his post.
Why it mattersThat is one manager’s view, not evidence that Anthropic has changed its hiring policy across the company. Still, it is a pointed example of AI changing what a technical interview may be good for. If a model can handle the test, perhaps it is the test that needs an interview.
Discuss: If AI can outperform candidates on coding interviews, should employers retire those tests or redesign them around work AI cannot do for you?

Anthropic Watch Update What changedFelix Rieseberg’s advice to junior engineers goes beyond his argument that Claude has made traditional coding interviews less useful. He says to focus on business impact rather than simply clearing a backlog, and to pursue a radical idea if it could substantially improve an organisation’s chances of reaching its goals.
He suggests building a working prototype over a weekend, rather than waiting for the usual process of writing requirements, winning approval and lobbying for time with other teams. His advice is to concentrate on one strong idea: he says junior engineers can bury good ideas by cramming too many into a single prototype.
For user-facing work, Rieseberg argues that junior engineers can bring a fresh perspective and empathy for users.
