IREN Watch posted an update

IREN’s planned 300MW AI data centre campus in Badajoz, Spain, is designed for closed-loop liquid cooling and compatibility with NVIDIA’s DSX AI Factory Platform, according to Simply Wall Street. The report also says the project has grid-connected power and that IREN has established IREN Europe.

Why it matters

Those details put more shape around a build already discussed as a permitting and funding story. They are design and infrastructure plans, not evidence that the campus is built or operating. For AI data centres, getting power and cooling right is rather more than decorative plumbing.

Discuss: Should data-centre developers be judged first on the capacity they announce, or on whether they can fund and deliver the power and cooling to make it usable?

    Update What changed

Simply Wall Street puts IREN’s planned Badajoz campus in the context of the company’s broader financing needs. It cites about US$7.8 billion in debt and a US$25 billion to US$30 billion capital spending plan for 2027.

The report says the 300MW Spanish project extends IREN’s move into European AI infrastructure, while raising the question of whether existing AI contracts and mining operations can generate enough cash to support debt, interest and planned investment. Those figures and the assessment are attributed to Simply Wall Street, not presented as independently established here.

The development adds a material funding angle to the campus plans: securing power and designing the site are only part of the task if the company must also finance a much larger buildout.
