Amazon Neptune now lets teams rebuild database indexes while read and write queries continue, AWS says. The feature can reclaim unused storage without taking the database offline.
Why it mattersTeams can rebuild all indexes or target quad or dictionary indexes, and tune concurrency and write-buffer settings to balance rebuild speed against workload impact. It is available on provisioned writer instances running Neptune engine version 1.5.0.0 or later. For teams managing large Neptune databases, that makes maintenance less disruptive. Storage cleanup, now with fewer operational theatrics.
Discuss: Would you prioritise uninterrupted service during database maintenance, or is a planned downtime window still the safer trade-off?
