The Writers Guild of America East has partnered with AI-protection company Cloak to offer members a service designed to make scripts readable to people but harder for AI systems to parse, Plagiarism Today reports. Non-members who register work with the guild can access the service for $10 per script.
Why it mattersThe trade-off is worth noting: the article says the tool works with PDFs, and some protections have limited software compatibility. Cloak claims its system blocks text extraction and optical character recognition, but the article does not independently test those claims.
Discuss: Would you use a tool that makes a script harder for AI to read if it also makes the document less accessible or compatible?
